Chapter 8: Creating and Editing Sounds
Page 149
Stereo Sampling
Stereo sampling is accomplished by sampling each side of a stereo
signal separately as two mono sounds, then combining them to a single
stereo sound. Two new features help to synchronize the two sides into a
stereo sound.
To create a stereo sound, first sample each side of the incoming signal
as two mono sounds. To combine the two mono sounds into a single
stereo sound, press SOUNDS, then 9, then 1, and the following screen
will appear:
==== Make Stereo From 2 Mono Sounds ===A
Left: Snare_drum_L
Right:Snare_drum_R
(Press <Do it> to make Left stereo &
move Right to Left's new Right side.)
========================================
<Do it> <Ply/Stp>
In the two upper fields, select the two mono sounds to be combined to
stereo. When <Do it> is pressed, the right sound will be deleted from
memory and the left sound will be converted to the new stereo sound.
COMMENT: If the two mono sounds you are combining to stereo
are each larger than 1/3 of the total MPC60 available memory,
you may get a “not enough memory” message. To combine
these large sounds, load the sounds in the following order: With
all sound memory free, load or sample the left sound first, then
load or sample the right sound, then combine them to stereo.
This will allow the combining of sounds each of which are ½ the
size of available memory. For example, in an expanded MPC60,
this will permit combining two 13 second mono sounds to stereo.
The next step is to synchronize the timing of the two sides or the new
stereo sound. Press SOUNDS, then 9, then 2, to view the following
screen:
== Adjust L/R Timing of Stereo Sound ==A
Sound: Snare_drum (ST)
Lft start:00.000.00 Rt start:00.000.00
